Oct 27, 2002.  Well folks, here is the first installment of comments for my MSU BUZZ fan page. Today I had my first real look at the 2002-2003 Spartan Women's Basketball team at their annual Green and White game. This years game was going to be a bit different due to player injuries (McKinney knee, Recker shoulder) and illness (Haynie cold). With only 9 players suited up, the game plan had to switch. Coach P decided rather than playing against each other the team would play against a group of male players whom they practice against regularly. The game started out slow with no one shooting really well after the first 10 minutes but the Spartans slowly came alive and went in at half time leading 36-21. As the Spartans started to get hot in their shooting, it was the underclassmen who seemed to really shine during the game. Freshmen newcomers Lindsay Bowen and Liz Shimek and Sophomore Kelli Roehrig all had strong performance. The team shot 49.2 percent from the field, and spanked the Scout green team 74-42. As Coach P said later, "There were some great times and not so great times which is typical of a Green-White game. I thought it was a good test and I felt the team responded to the test."
